It WAS true, in 2009, when he 'made' them. They were simply ASE's that were given a little 'frosting'.
edited....before I get 'corrected' (and rightly so), I should add....like ALL his 'fantasy' pieces, these '09's are overstruck on 2009 ASE's, with dies to give a proof look....AND a little 'frosting'.

Correct. But note that the process also added a "DC" mark to the reverse.
