PayPal Purchase - Buyer Protection?

Hi All,

I'm about to make a purchase (off eBay) and pay via PayPal. If I make the purchase as a goods purchase (so, grossed up for the transaction fee), do I have any sort of protection if the seller flakes? Should I consider making the payment via PayPal and using a credit card instead of checking or existing PayPal balance for an added layer of protection?

    Yes and Yes. If you use an invoice, you have buyer protection through PayPal. Details here. I would also recommend using a credit card to fund the transaction as opposed to your bank account, as it adds an additional layer of protection via chargebacks.

    Just went through a claim as a buyer, non-eBay.
    Took a while to close in my favor. Make sure you save all communication with seller and an invoice used.
    I collect Seattle Pilots autographs, 1969 Topps autographs, Signed Mickey Mantle Home Run History cards and have a JC Martin collection (he was my college Baseball coach)

    I was just wondering about this myself as I am about to make a purchase off eBay.
    So do I ask for an invoice from the seller then?
    And use credit card.
