GT Sports Marketing Houston shows - Looking for info...

Show info

Being new to the Texas area, I'm not familiar with this show. I have gone to several of the TriStar shows but never heard of this show put on by GT Sports.

It is being held at the George Brown Convention Center which is huge. Looking for some info if anyone has ever set up with them or attended...

Does this show get a good size crowd? How many dealer tables are usually set up there?

Brand new deal this year, GTSM hasn't done a big show in Houston before that I can remember and I've lived here 20 years. Tristar had that market locked down for over a decade really. Tristar used to do their shows at the George Brown, but I think they got a better deal to move it to the Reliant Center.

I've heard stories that Tristar had an exclusive with the Brown for sports cards and memorabilia shows, which is why no one else had ever done a show there. If that's true, then obviously the move in their locations opened this up. I for one am glad, especially the timing of this one as Tristar used to always do it in late January or early February, which really stinks if you were wanting to find something for Christmas, and for the dealers I imagine it wasn't ideal because most people hadn't recovered yet from their holiday spending.

I honestly expect the same dealers for this one as we usually get, but I'm holding out hope that we do get some new faces. I'm actually considering setting up as well so that would be at least one new face, again for the Christmas crowd as I'd expect there could be some good money looking to get spent at that time.

Usually these shows would run a couple hundred table or better, so should be a similar number of dealers as usual unless GTSM screws that up somehow. I thought the autograph names were pretty good actually, so I'd expect pretty good attendance as well.

    My thoughts on it anyway.

I think I might have to set up at this show. I have not done a show in years but it's time to start up again.

I just read on another website that GT Sports Marketing had a show last March in Houston.

Anyone here go or set up? What was the turnout like? Wonder how much advertising they do...

I just checked the Beckett Show calender and it says 130 tables - not bad
