How's The Reaction to The Jumbo GSA Slab?

I don't see as many around as I had expected to after hearing about their release, considering all of the hype by members here and by PCGS. My theory, when they were first offered, was that they'd be rejected by the majority of the public. Here's why:

Most everyone I know who collects GSA material likes to store all of the 'accessories' that were included in the original sale together, i.e. box, COA, flyer, etc. But the issue with the jumbo GSA holder is you can no longer fit the coin in the original box, meaning you have to store the accessories separate from the coin, making the this holder impractical.

Perhaps I'm wrong to assume that every collector of GSA dollars likes to store the coin and box together, but then the question is raised - why don't we see more jumbo holders? What are other possible reasons they aren't accepted? Can it all be attributed to the service fee?

What am I missing?

I don't think you are missing much. I have the same concerns and storing boxes and cards separately is an issue. Also, viewing a coin through two layers of plastic isn't positive.

One positive is that the GSA holder is protected and won't get any scratches if it's in the PCGS large holder.

I find demand for both grading services with this issue.

My reaction was that the one and only submission I sent ATS this past year was 20-something GSA Morgans for reasons cited already.

Do not like the oversized holder and prefer mine done by NGC. Funny thing is I like my other coins
to be PCGS. I know as a GSA collector I like mine GSA's in the original box with COA.

They were coins I was having graded for someone else at their request before I put my VAM attribution label on them, so I don't remember the details. Mostly 63, I think, but there were one or two 65-66 coins in the bunch. These would have gone to our hosts had they adopted a cigar band/strap rather than slab-in-a-slab.

I like the big holder and like aways what others dont like i will grab and make a big $$$ on it when it's gone....
