Are "Forever" returns permitted on Ebay coin sales.

Thinking about the upcoming holiday season listings.

I believe that to receive the top rated discount, a seller must offer a return privilege until the end of January on sales transacted from early November, through the end of the year.

Why not just go with an infinity return policy? Perhaps a buyer would pay a premium on an MS64 Saint if he could send her back after say the 2016 elections.

A fellow could buy a coin in his thirties and send it back in 2045 to use the money for retirement.

I am serious, it may boost sales and I surely have inflation on my side!

For all intents and purposes, if you pay via Paypal funded by a credit card you essentially already have "forever" return privileges as it is.

Recalled some years ago that a collectibles dealer got in trouble for offering a lifetime return. It was considered a form of insurance that he was not licensed/permitted to offer.

Where is Sanction when we need him?

Why not just sell coins that people Don't want to return?

Not sure that I can anticipate the thoughts and needs of each customer.

My return rate has been less than 2% of Ebay sales over a dozen years. Unlike the big auction players, I will always offer my customer an out if they change their mind or are disappointed.

There are a bunch of tire kickers out there who try to cherrypick, and when they find it isn't the variety they thought they return the item (like it was the seller fault). I have only returned two item since I have been on ebay. One of them was a camera, and the other was a coin not as described. I think it is good to have the option when something wasn't as described; however, I know a few who continuously return for the reason stated above, and there simply is no way to protect yourself from someone like that.

Have just the opposite idea to keep the vest pocket dealers honest. Two week full return OK, but if you want to shop it then return pay the restock free as I will have to repolish, reshoot, relist. and resell, and reship.

I sell classic Mustang parts, and a used heater box for a 1965 - 1968 goes for about $100 in decent shape.

I offer a 200 year return if Global warming causes the temperature in Alaska to reach 120 F average for December, thus rendering the need for the heater passé.

I'm okay with returns, though this policy and thread title makes me ponder selling "Forever" stamps from the USPS, on eBay, to include a self addressed stamped envelope for the customer's convenience. Plus free shipping with signature confirmation. Sellers could qualify for food stamps forever, this way.
