  • Did you guys notice that every freaking call went the Lakers way?!?! Hmmm, Christy's nose fouled Kobe pretty good. Divac outside the circle...etc...etc... I don't think the Lakers will be hitting that high percentage next game.

    GO KINGS.....

  • yes i agree, every call was going the lakers way, it was rediculous, kobe elbows christie is the nose and its a foul on christie? cmon, the refs in the league today are rediculous
  • o yea what about when pollard fouled the Sh!t out of shaq and no call? i could name a bunch calls not called for the lakers, the refs dont determine the score the teams do
  • yea thats how the lakers won their 2 rings right? the refs called all the games for them? The nut-sac kings cant handle the lakers

Ok anyone who thinks that officials win or lose the game is wrong. The game comes down to who is the best. Shaq gets fouled almost every time down the court. Shaq fouls others alot also. People travel on both teams all the time. The NBA officials don't call anything. When they do they get half of it wrong. All in all the spoils go to the best players. the ones who can shoot. Make shots when fouled. Draw fouls and make the refs call things. Reggie Miller wasn't one of the best players ever but how many times did he draw people into fouls. He just played the refs just like the game. While the Kings are good they are no match for the Lakers. Bad thing about it is that the Eastern Conference is so weak. They should restructure or something so it is more even.

PAIN AND PUNISHMENT TOUR REIGNS SUPREME! 1 down, 3 to go! GO LAKERS!

  • Lakers played a great game. There were some questionable non-calls and some questionable calls but in the end the foul count was

    Lakers 20

    Kings 25

The Kings had like 3 fouls in the last minute so I'd say it was a well called game. It did appear more calls went the Lakers way. It will be interesting to see how the refs call game 2 on Monday. Can't wait!

Good point. I can't figure out why Webber doesn't tear the rim down when he's that close. He's been doing that all year, but more noticably in the playoffs. It seems like he only dunks when he's got a running start with an open lane. I hope that changes in the next few games.

  • I'm a big Michigan fan, so I hate to say this, but Webber plays scared and tentative in the playoffs. If the KIngs think they have ANY shot against the Lakers, they are absolutely kidding themselves.

They do have a shot, but they just have to come ready to play the full 48 minutes. The Lakers go all out for the 48 in each game. Remember the Spurs? They played very well against the Lakers for the first 3 quarters, and then in the 4th they just dwindled. If the Kings want to have a chance in this series, they better become more aggressive in the paint, especially Webber who seems to take more outside shots than getting into the pain and dominating like he usually does. Also, the Lakers' defense is VERY underrated as they play tremendously on the defensive end. No one mentions how great a defensive team they are.
  • I can see everybody's points. Webber should be more aggresive down low. However,I don't put all the blame on him. I'm not sure his exact #'s, but they were something like 24pts and 14 rebs I think. That's not too shabby, coming from a guy who is known for not doing SQUAT in the post season! By Web and Vlade staying outside and trying to draw Shaq out,it really opens up the middle for a player like Pollard or even Funderburke to establish some sort of inside threat. Neither of them did. I don't even remember seeing Funderburke in. And with the middle being so wide open, that allows Turk and/or Bibby to slash to the hoop, which neither of them did successfully. Webber is not a true "Power"forward. He has a pretty sweet outside shot and can pass it inside too. Kings just need another big man!

Lantz: indeed, they try to take to draw Shaq out of his paint, but I don't think he will actually leave his paint so bibby or anyone else can go through it.. the reason why webber isn't scoring down-low is because of him, he doesn't necesseraly have to play very well, his presence is good enough to keep web out of the paint. Kings have a very small chance to win something against the lakers because of that and because they don't have the experience and the ice going through their vains yet.. but maybe that will come in a couple of years.. who knows? image

btw.. I got a 01-02 Ultimate Collection Webber Jersey #'d /250 $50 FT.. lmk if ya want it image
  • Lantz that was an awesome block at first i thought it was a foul but on the reply it was clean, i think the Lakers plan of stop webber from double teaming shaq by kicking it out to horry to nail the 3 really helped the lakers in this game.

  • magicfan i have been saying that since the lakers won it all last year lol
  • Yeah, I definately thought Kings would have a much better chance this year. Last year it was Harper who was killing the Kings from the outside, This year,Horry! Man,right when you think Horry sucks and is no longer a threat.....BAM!!! With 8 out of 10 guys on the Lakers being so dangerous, there just isn't enough players to defend them all! lol Maybe the NBA should start letting teams throw in 6 players against LA!

Yeah, put 2 players on Kobe to guard him...oh wait, that wouldn't work...maybe 3...erm...that wouldn't work either...I'm sure 4 would...ummm doubt it...even FIVE couldn't stop Kobe! It seems like all the teams try and put as many players on Kobe as they can but Kobe always finds a way to sneak his way past them...then he fades away on them for the J...unstoppable!
