Regular season baseball awards

Always wondered why baseball delays these awards until after the series and how this tradition came about. Any thoughts on this and would you rather they announce them at the close of the regular season? Might peak interest a little if for example the MVP happened to be in the post season. Maybe it's to "hot stove" the sport, but the announcements may get lost in the shuffle to the casual fan what with the football/basketball/hockey seasons going on during when the awards are announced.

    MLB wants focus on post season play it this time of year........waiting until the World Series is over to announce the award winners keeps baseball in the news as you suggested (hot stove)........ Award winners are focus of media attention for a day or two.
