How long do you wait?

So I won an eBay item in the 11th. The last piece to my Mays registry. Printing label done on 15th. Arrival at Chicago PO on 16th, arrives and departs Forest Hills, IL PO on 16th. Has not been scanned since. Est arrival date says 21st so trying not to freak, but how long do I wait before contacting seller? Is it the seller I should contact?

Real bummer that it has to be THIS card and not one of the dozens of others I've ordered in the last month.

Advice appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

Contact the last post office it was tracked at, if anyone. The seller won't be able to do anything. I've seen some weird delays and would probably give it another day or so before worrying too much, personally.
  • I'd wait until 3 days after estimated delivery before contacting USPS. Try not to worry: missed scans happen all the time, but in almost all instances the item is still delivered as normal. I just had a card arrive today that was last scanned at the accepting PO--it missed the departing sort facility, arriving sort facility, local PO, and out for delivery. But got here safely and on time! Good luck.

Agreed. This has happened before and card showed up, it just had to be the card I struggled to find in the right price/eye ratio...and finishes the Topps basic set.

I'll give the last PO a shot...though I'll expect to be frustrated.

Thanks for talking me off the ledge...at least for a few days.

I made a trade with a board member this month. The package was scanned as leaving a postal facility in Illinois, but had no further tracking updates until it showed up in NH 5 days later. I think there have been issues at O'Hare or something. Given that your issue is in Illinois, like mine was, I'd say you have nothing to worry about and it's just an annoying delay. Good luck!

    Jim,

Like others have said, you should be fine. I am usually pretty excited to get my cards so I usually will hit the eBay app on my phone after sellers have shipped to track the progress of cards in transit. Every card I have ever bought has arrived, some take longer than expected and some don't get scanned in at each handling point, but the USPS is actually pretty good at getting stuff where it needs to go. I definitely wouldn't contact the seller. Once they ship the card and put it in the hands of USPS there is really nothing they can do unless the card actually does get lost. I once had a card intended to come to me here in WA somehow go from Cleveland to WA by way of Honolulu! It took longer than it should have but it got here none the less. Try to be patient. Congrats on completing your Mays set!

When I was a kid and redeeming cereal box premiums we waited 4-6 weeks for our .10 to $1.00 toy prize. Times sure have changed.

U should have no problem..its in the system.

I bought a card recently. It took seller a week to get a tracking #.
Then it sat in a po for 4 days. Shows in my local PO this am...almost 2 weeks after payment.

I've had some crazy issues with the PO this year. I sold a '67 Brooks Robinson PSA 8 that took two weeks to arrive from CA to TX. Worse, I had a '67 Seaver RC PSA 9ST that I shipped back to the seller back in March that got stuck in the system. I kept checking the tracking info up until a month or so ago and it was still lost after scanning out of the SJ sort facility. Fast forward to this week, the seller I was returning the card to for a refund has it listed again on eBay...it finally arrived back to him. Of course he never bothered to inform me of this and kept my money AND is trying to resell it. I've sent him a message thru eBay and await his response.

    Thanks Boys!

Chicken Little just confirmed...the sky is NOT falling.

Package got 4 scans today and is out for delivery.

Hoping it's in my mailbox when I get home.

If so, there should be a Mays retrospective coming soon.

    Stay Tuned.

I'm dealing with a seller that printed the label almost a week ago and still hasn't shipped. Asked the seller what the deal was and he claims he got sick after packing and printing and couldn't get to the post office. So I'm pretty sure I'm not getting my card. Is there anything more dangerous and hard luck than selling cards on ebay?
  • Is it Forest Hills or Forest Park IL center where it got hung up? I ship a lot from Illinois, and there are always delays at that sort facility.

Am not a fan of the USPS to begin with, but can say in all honesty that mail going through Chicago has to be the SLOWEST of any I send or receive. I have literally had packages leave my local facility and then take 10 business days to get scanned and then delivered the very next day
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

I don't think you are officially allowed to post such a thread until at least one day AFTER the expected delivery date. image

Glad to hear it worked out.

I received two cards this week that the tracking still shows as not delivered.
