Two newps, thanks to two forum members

The first coin I got today. A fellow member sent me a text message Wednesday (or was it Tuesday?) afternoon as I was walking into my house raving about a coin. It took me a moment to figure out that he wanted me to look at it for myself. About 30 minutes later, I had ordered it. Thanks, OriginalDan, for the tip.
The coin is a Mexico 2R, 1821/0, and very well struck. The obverse is semi-PL, with just about the right amount of lines and scuffs to account for a 63 grade if it were a proof Seated 25c. The reverse is satiny and 64-ish quality. It also has striae that adds to its flashiness. Too bad the reverse can only hurt the grade, but never help it. The image is from the dealer, but I tweaked it best I could. It's a very attractive coin, with rose center that becomes blue at the periphery.

This next coin used to be in Greg Margulie's personal collection, but I got it from Zohar after initially losing to him in a bidding war for this coin. Note to self: don't get in a bidding war with Zohar, because he can be just as passionate as I about this stuff.
This coin is a Teutonic issue, 1614, 2 Taler. The person depicted is Maximilian, who was the grand master of the order as well as the HRE. It is extremely lustrous, and much nicer in hand than the image suggests (picture from Zohar; for those who may have noticed, I seldom do my own pictures anymore!). I have a Teutonic 1T (1603) graded 62, and this coin is nicer but graded only 58. But that's ok, because it isn't the label that makes a coin great. Thanks to Zohar for the opportunity.

I like to close out my opening post by saying that I have no idea why I decided to comment about these coins' grades -- since I want my posts to be about the coins and not about the labels. Anyway, I am eager to leave my desk and don't want to make the time to edit my post. I hope you enjoy the coins. As for the grades -- whatever.

Zohar and I live in adjacent states along the mid-Atlantic/NE, and in fact I work in his state. I had planned to meet him after work to pick up the coin and grab a drink, but never could find the time. So, I paid for the shipping and he mailed it to me (I forget which mailing class, but I think it was Express Mail w/ signature). He sends me the tracking information, and I eagerly track it from my iPhone. I see that the coin ends up in New Hampshire. I call my local PO about this, and they bent over backwards to help me. They call NH to make sure that it gets re-routed correctly. It makes its way back to Zohar's state, then to my state. By the time the coin arrives at my local PO, it was already past they sorting time and I was supposed to wait until the next day. No big deal. It's just a coin, not medicine for a desperately ill person.
Anyway, I was just about to leave my house for the PO hoping I can pick up my package in person and decide to check the tracker one final time. Now it says that it's out for delivery. My local PO is only 5 minutes from my house, so I stand at my front door. My regular delivery guy pulls up (around noon, even though his usual arrival time is around 4pm) and I almost embrace him. He made the detour just for me, and I profusely thank him. This was the third time that my local PO seemed to have gone out of their way to do something nice for me.
In fact, my entire local PO has been nothing but great to me. Furthermore, for my entire life, I can only recall fond memories of PO staffers. As a kid, my local PO would hold special stamps for me. They would go through old inventory looking for cool and old stuff for me too. They were even patient enough to listen to me while I taught them how to hold stamps and which items were special.

Repeat after me "I am EVP and I am a Coinoholic".
Love the coins!

I prefer the term Passionate Coin Afionado (or maybe even a Passionate Coin Connoisseur).
OriginalDan - one of the benefits of getting minor denominations is that the smaller issues tend to come well struck. Many are also relatively more affordable and scarcer in high grade than their larger denomination counterparts.
