Hopefully the centering straightens out for a stretch somewhere in there. It's a fun set.

The second year Montana phone card is awesome, tilt or no tilt.

On that Montana card, what is that strange looking, curly black line attached to the phone receiver?

I am amazed that the technology did not exist to do something as simple as cut centered cards.

Sometimes I believe that cutting cards that are not centered is intentional so collectors will chase centered cards.
  • It pretty much continues with the OC 'sitcheashun', and I did take Larkin's hint, and pulled some from the other end of the box.

    More off kilter stars

More acceptable cards but still in need of a makeover

While I am sure there were collectors who cared about centering in 1982, I suspect they were in the significant minority back then as the word "chase" didn't enter our vocabulary until the 1990's.

I really didn't care about centered cards until after PSA came along.

Yes back then pretty much all anyone cared about was sharp corners and no creases

When I collected in the 1980's the only thing I looked at was corners. Centering didn't cross my mind either.

Frankly, I am not even sure how much centering even increases the appeal of a card.
  • There are days with this that I want the old days back, when as some are saying, no one really cared about the perfectness. I don't ever remember an instance of even noticing the quality of a card when I was young. DANG YOU PSA ! oh wait.. I say that only until I pull some perfect low pop cards for grading, then the story will change image

  • Loved that there was an Eddie Murray in football AND baseball back in those days image
  • More love with the off center stars. The Lott though is gradeable.

If not left to right, then top to bottom gets ya. If these look bad, you should see the other guys image

I've been looking at that for months now. Thanks for sharing. I feel a little better now letting it get away.

    Sorry for your misfortune though.

    Total Bummer.

Centering wasn't quite the big deal as it is today for obvious reasons but it's not accurate to say no one cared.

Nobody I encountered ever brought it up back then. I guess there were some that cared but I would think it was few and far between

The flag/pennant on the front of the cards remind me of 1965 Topps baseball.

    Great set.

First team logo's on Football cards since 1969. Plus, no air brushing.
