Would the mint mark locations on the 09 s be the same as the 09 s vdb? I found this link listed below that shows four different locations.

Is any of the variety's more desirable than the others?

i mapped out all the publicly known mm positions in these 2 images for the 09-s vdb and 09-s

i have yet to do an official comp to see which ones match up.

i'm still putting together the reverse image comps. they are started but not finished for the 09-s vdb and 09-vdb

They would be different and there are more than 4 die pairs used for the non VDB.
So don't expect your no VDB S to match the 4 locations, it can be different and still be good but the style of S is the same.
For the normal S there are also some RPMs, one over a horizontal S and one with a second to the northeast.
