Oh and then there is this, a $1,750 BIN for another 1979 Topps Football wax box, also BBCE authenticated.

But that one has plain cellophane, so the BBCE logo cellophane probably explains the $700 premium on the PWCC one. image

Under bidder placed a bid of $2,400.00 five days before the auction ended. Hard to imagine the consignor placing that bid if there's a BIN out there for $1,750.

Made me happy to see that especially since an 81 went for just under 1400 at the same time...I think it's an anomaly but on the other hand I think football catches and passes baseball at some point. Look at the PSA prices for 79 football and others...

Actually that $1750 BIN also had a Best Offer option on it as well, meaning the seller is willing to take something less than that, so the savings would have been over the $700 savings I initially stated. Let's be conservative and say $750 savings on the one that "sold" for $2,425... that's, what, around 30% more?

The 1984 went for well above average as well. It "sold" for $1390 when one is available on BBCE for $750 (plus shipping)?

Same goes for the 1981 box that "sold" for $1340 vs. available on BBCE for $1100 (plus shipping).

Or the 1986 box that "sold" for $910 vs. available on BBCE for $750 (plus shipping).

So someone values the BBCE authentication enough to bid this up, but not enough to bother checking BBCE's site and saving themselves ~45%?

Even if they didn't know BBCE had a website, all 4 of these boxes were available from other sellers with BINs considerably less than what they bid.

I also noted PWCC's 1987 Fleer Basketball box going over $4000

    That's ridiculous
  • All the unopened Brent had did extremely well but the 1975 mini's. There were (3) of them in the $2,800 range I believe.
