Nice old 1/3 farthing with seaby envelope

Picked this up years ago. It has some nice luster and came with all the original Seaby sales packaging.
Always thought that was pretty neat. Do you think that would add any value to it?
Thanks,
Richard

I know the current environment is plastic-centric, but I love coins with old envelopes and tickets. Given the orignal price was 25/- I assume it is pre-1967. I'm not sure it adds any value tho since it's essentially just commercial packaging and I doubt if the green writing is contemporary with the ticket. Sadly (to me) the coin might be "worth" more if it resided in a slab with a big number. Just IMHO.

    Nifty piece tho.

Agreed. Bubble wrap and cardboard slip do not generally yield a packaging premium. It may be the reason someone buys yours vs. another coin of the same grade / eye appeal, so don't throw it away, but don't expect to get a premium either. Advertise it as a "bonus!"

I don't think it really adds much if anything to the value. But like many others I do like to be able to buy coins with older tickets from well known firms.

I didn't notice the bubble wrap. If it touches the coin you should remove it asap since it's likely to contain PVC, a well known coin killer.

Looks like a really nice example and always a bonus to have some pedigree. I think the coin is in a holder so the bubble wrap wont be touching it anyway?
  • I was surprised to find out that bubble wrap existed pre 1967.
Some people like bubble wrap and the last Monday in January is Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day.
