I started this set on a whim (can't recall if I picked up the first lot from Craigslist or eBay), shortly after getting back into collecting in early 2011. Finally found the last card at a price/condition combo I was willing to live with, though I got pushed to the last penny of my snipe....
Hopefully, I've gained admittance to the centered Mantle club with this pickup Most of the set is in 3-5 condition raw w/a few graded stars (mixed TPG), crease free with special attention paid to surface and registration. I'm sure I'll spend some time now on a few upgrades and completing the Series 5 cardstock variations. I'll get some more scans up as time permits (including the Mantle once in hand), feel free to post any requests.
Remaining Series 5 cardstock variations before I'll truly consider it complete:
Grey Backs: 379,384,385,386,390,392,395,405,406,408,414,419,420,425,426,429,430,431,435,436,437,439
White Backs: 383,393,396,402,412,418
Next baseball sets to wrap up, 1972, 1964, and 1970 (in that order) though I have a higher condition target on those.

I know how you must feel, having just finished my
1961 set. I was buying the variations and extras
(like stamps, rub-offs and wrappers) while I was
putting the set together, so I don't have much of
that to do.
Anyway, great set to finish, and I know you are
stoked about getting it done.

Nice Work!

John - Thankfully there were no pack inserts in this set and the tattoos from that year don't interest me. I would love to add a wax wrapper though. Congrats again on sticking with it and finishing the 61!
mknez - Agreed, the design has really grown on me.
Steve - I think every Topps issue has a couple of those 'what could have been' (59 Gibson pink comes to mind).
Jim - It was at least the 15th Mantle I've put a bid on, so happy to finally win one.

I'll look to see if I have any of the back color variations you need.
Dan - Just got notification last night after MNF that I'd finally won one. It's mostly in a binder with the few graded stars and a couple other 'to be graded' off to the side.
Also, would love to see a scan of the Yaz
<< <i>Cool. Do you have those pages with 8 horizontal pockets?
Also, would love to see a scan of the Yaz >>
Unfortunately, no. It's in standard 9-pocket sheets.
I had a feeling that request would be coming in

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
<< <i>Congrats on finishing the set. That MICK presents REAL WELL for the grade. ENJOY! >>
Thanks, I was hoping it would slip by a few forum members here

Right now just super pumped, cloud nine comes once it's in hand

That's what she said.
Kiss me twice.....let's party.
Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.

Congratulations Kyle!
The 60T set is a super design. I like the Mantle - and the centering is pretty nice also.
Congratulations on entering "The Club" - your autographed picture of JoeO (suitable for framing) and "secret handshake" are in the mail!

dberk - It is!
SideP - Best of luck and I'll keep an eye out.
Stone - Looking forward to mu first Club mail
brian - A couple board members reinspired me about a year ago and I got all except the Mantle shortly thereafter, glad to to pass the bug along.
heritage - Most definitely.
Brick - It's nice to finish something for once. I seem to get distracted in my collecting easily.
and some of the stars I'll get graded one of these days....
<< <i>Those are all sharp cards! As far as I know, they won't ding you for the black print dots on the Yaz because virtually all copies PSA 8 or lower have those. How's your McCovey RC? And what are those cases you have the cards in? They look pretty neat. >>
I don't think the McCovey is as nice, but I'll get some of the others out of the binder to take a look. They're a snap lock case that I received some cards in a long time ago. I like them as well, but haven't tried to track down any additional.
I'm partial to the Drysdale.
<< <i>Rock solid star cards Kyle.

Love that headshot as well, I just wish Topps had centered it better. All of them look OC to me.
1960 #411 White Back & 1972 #711
I think the 1972 set will be wrapping up soon, once one more package arrives I'll be down to 16 to go.
<< <i>Sweet Koufax as well!!!!! >>
Thanks, I keep carrying that one to Dodgers spring training games hoping to catch him for an auto, but no luck so far.
