Am I correct that the modern Sport Kings are licensed, but only by the individuals in the set, and not by the leagues or the respective players' associations?
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy! Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !
I don't know, but that sounds like it would be correct. The variance in sports/athletes in the set must make licensing an interesting undertaking.
From a buyer's perspective, I don't consider the 2008 & 2012 Sportkings in the same category with most of the other "unlicensed" issues I've seen. To me their product seems closer to the ITG hockey sets for example.
I could be wrong here, but I was under the impression that Broder cards like these were unlicensed, yet they are graded. They seem less legit than the Sportkings cards IMO.

I don't disagree and Broders were not graded by PSA for quite some time before they changed their stance on grading them. I would guess something similar will happen with the Sportkings if someone is willing to put in the time to convince them.

BGS grades all the Sportkings. I don't really sub anything to Beckett for grading, but I thought they didn't grade unlicensed issues?
