I was 9 when this card came out and it was an instant favorite of mine.

I looked forward to a similar card in 1977 but was disappointed that they did not keep up the tradition. Such is life.

I'm curious to see the most recent card with the biggest obvious tobacco chew. Now that MLB players are all PC and stuff....

Here's one I remembered off the top of my head. Will have to look for more.

Well, they are not on a card, but this is a good one with Zimmer and Fox:

Not a wad, but a big bubble:

Not too sure he had any while in jail:

Much rather see the gum then the tobacco:

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

I'm not sure what card would show it the most, but my initial reaction was that it was probably most likely a competition between Nellie Fox and Mickey Tettleton.

Any cards of Carew? I know he always had a wad. I believe he said it tightened his cheek to help him see the pitch better.
I collect Seattle Pilots autographs, 1969 Topps autographs, Signed Mickey Mantle Home Run History cards and have a JC Martin collection (he was my college Baseball coach)

You never can be sure in these photos if they have a wad in their mouth or if it is just the photo showing a huge cancerous tumor that ended up killing them.

This comment is morbidly spot on.

The 88 Tettleton is a good one above. I could not think of any recent cards with the similar wad that is prominent in the 60's.

Mickey Tettleton hit some good home runs while he was in Detroit, though I still remember when meeting him it seemed like the guy had an entire baseball inside his cheek. Can't even believe they managed to find some photos for his cards w/o it showing.
