62 mantle psa 9

curious about the left and bottom edges...i need it for my basic mantle set. could this have been damaged in the holder or is that type of chipping tolerable on the 62s? it certainly isn't on the 71s...

a link helps

I have seen nicer 8s of the 62 mantle As they say. Buy the card not the grade

quitcrab, you are officially the 1st person to ever get my tag/set names...you obviously have good musical tastes!

there's a few 8s that I have my eye on and while i'd never pay what is being asked, the 9's very rarely come up...

and I guess getting back to my original question...is it possible the card/holder was dropped and chipped the edge or do the 62's get a proverbial pass on the chipping?

DJR has good taste and is spot on about the dreaded bottom edge line. It's just an overgraded card with low eye appeal for the grade, especially due to the black line and left edge. For that money wait out a beautiful example.

I could have pulled the trigger on a 9 recently, but it had PD and the line-- I opted instead for a 6.5 that is better centered than the 9 I was considering and had no bottom line, as so many of them have. As was said above by our collecting brother Quitcrab, buy the card and not the grade. It's tempting to add a high grade for the registry but if the scan shows a weak card, it ain't making your eye happy and ain't impressin' nobody. Smart call to pass, homie.

thanks! and, seems a tad oc from l/r to boot. but, do you guys think it woulda graded a 9 that way w/ the edges or was it dropped and chipped?

<< <i>I think it graded that way and was overgraded. Should be an 8 or 8.5. 9 is definitely too good for that card. >>

Totally agree. Money's on graded that way as opposed to post-grade damage.

Too much chipping for a 9.

Buy the card, not the holder.
