Dollar Type Set Coin Board

I posted an earlier version of this a month or two back. A couple of important newP's finally "finished" the set. I reworked the layout a bit and made the coins larger. There was too much negative space before. The board also flows a little better chronologically now. Yes, there are too many Ikes. Yes, there are too many Susan Bs. Since there is no universally accepted definition of a business-strike dollar type-set, I used the PCGS Dollar Registry set and added the gold dollars to it. I suppose the Lafayette and the several gold dollar commems could be added, but they don't really seem like coins that ever had a chance at commercial use. The same could be said for a few of the "made-for-collectors" Ikes, but I digress......

In the future I'd like to swap out the trade dollar and the Moran dollar for better representatives of type. These are both fantastic coins, but the Morgan really should be a DMPL from the 1880s and the trade dollar should have a more typical look. The rest I'm more or less satisfied with.

I find it interesting that there is only one coin on the board which does not feature the word "LIBERTY"......

Makes a pretty screen saver. I'll eventually get it professionally printed (perhaps on aluminum) and put it on the wall with the coins at either life size (14" x 8.75") or double life size (28" x 17.5"). I can't decide which would look better. I suppose I could do both and take one to the office. image The native source file is detailed enough to make it look right even when printed out in large format. This is such a fun way to enjoy the coins while they're safely tucked in a dark, lonely SDB.
