I have been slowly starting the 1954 Topps set in PSA 6 condition. The cards look so good. I got stars Rizzuto, Snider, and Eddie Matthews. Trying to piece the set together on a shoestring budget. I am reading about that season and it's interesting to see who the major players were. Larry Doby and Willie Mays were the MVPs I believe. Johnny Antonelli led the NL in win percentage and ERA. Wally Moon was the Rookie of the Year and Don Liddle was the pitcher Durocher brought in to get Vic Wertz out. Mel Parnell, a 20 game winner the previous season, suffered a broken pitching arm when hit by a pitch and won only 3 games. Got that info from the huge Topps book which has pics of all cards from 1951 to 1985. It's neat seeing who were the stars then who are now commons in the set. Rizzuto batted below .200 that year and wore glasses in a failed attempt to break out of the slump. I plan to buy the book 1954 about that season at some point.
