Just Arrived: Fun Material For Ripping

In trying to complete my Dallas Cowboys HOF collection and my Ring of Honor collection, I need a Larry Allen. It's not been abundant and when I do find one, I can't stomach the price. So I decided to do a 3-box hunt. Picked these up from Kruk and will rip until I get my card. Starting on Friday night probably.



Also, about 2 months ago I was at KMart and saw 3 packs of 2008 Goudey at 1.49 each. Decided to grab em. Opened one pack and got Kershaw and Bruce and a couple old timers. Sweet pack. Kept the other two in my retail display. With Jeter in my mind lately, I looked at my display packs and really liked that it had Jeter with Derek Jeter says... And thought it would make a good display box. So I found a couple on the Bay and voila. One will be ripped...maybe two. The other for display.



I'll update this thread with any hits.

Any idea what else besides Kershaw I should be looking for in 08 Goudey?

I ripped a case of 08 Goudey a couple of years ago. There are some buybacks inserted one per case. Some of the SP's bring decent coin. Also there are some decent autos. I have graded a few Kershaw rookies from this and did well. Longoria and Sherzer have rookies in here as well. Good luck.

I'm live. Ripped first box of Playoff last night. Half the packs were bricks. Few minutes in freezer released most. No Allen, Faulk or Bruce yet. Did get a McGinest. Will probably hit box 2 tonite or tomorrow. Will try to post done scans when I get back from Half Moon Bay with the family.

Gotta watch w those Playoff boxes. A lot of times the cards are stuck together depending on how they were stored

Ripped all 3 boxes of Playoff. Straight jacked. I got a Bruce. No Allen, not even a Faulk. There are I think 50 RCs in the set. You get 1 per pack or an insert. Inserts are few. Maybe 4/box, max. So I figured I'm gonna see roughly 60 RCs of a 50 card set. I got decent odds of pulling an Allen. Nope. I realized that Faulk and Allen are 4 cards from each other, and realized very early in that the columns and boxes come in runs. Considered throwing another 60 at 3 more boxes but when I saw a Probstein 8 ending this evening, I just got it. Late snipe and I almost had it for 27, last second snipe drove it to 40. Happy to put it to rest. Just wish I coulda pulled one.

I got a couple McGinest and Bryant Youngs, but definitely an ROI bust. I'll see how much of the set I can put together, but not really worth posting pics.

Will rip a Goudey box sometime this week probably and hopefully have something to share.

Just got home from work, cracked a Newcastle, and dive into a box of 08 Goudey.

First pack and I had to take a smoke break to post the results...

I don't collect swimming cards, but this one is pretty cool and she's got a great auto.



Will continue to update with hits, but expecting this box to take a few days.

Stoked on pack 1 though...far better than the nightmare that was 94 Playoff.

So stoked on the Kershaw mini, plus Montana and Elway. This box is fun!

So I finished the first 6 pack column. Gotta say, I like the product a lot. I decided I wanna build the set, so got another 3 boxes. These will be fun to have around for anytime rippage.

Here are the highlights of the last 4 packs of column 1.

Note: I didn't bother pulling base stars, but I do like the HOFers.



Super stoked on the Miggy bat card. And the Youklis mini is 30/34.



Chances are the Janet Evans auto and Miggy bat are the 2 hits, but I'm still looking forward to the next 2 columns.
