1879/8 Shield Nickel (PCGS-PR69) MONSTER COLOR!! Picture added!

Anyone out there have a customer that might want perhaps the coolest proof
Shield Nickel out there, not to mention one of the very few PCGS-PR69
graded coins from the 19th Century in any coin series! Don't miss the
Stacks/Bowers sale for this one then! Going off tomorrow in their auction.
1879/8 Shield Nickel. Proof-69 (PCGS). OGH.
Gem Proof-69 1879/8 Shield Nickel
Finest Certified by Either Major Service
This simply exquisite virtually pristine specimen needs to be seen to be
fully appreciated. Both sides are fully struck with a vibrant satin to
semi-reflective finish. Vivid rainbow toning arcs around the peripheries
and adds to the outstanding eye appeal. As vibrant, vivid and beautiful as
any Proof Shield that one is ever likely to encounter, regardless of date.
Notable as one of just two overdate varieties in the Shield nickel series
that are listed in the Guide Book, the other being the 1883/2. The 1879/8
is listed in Proof format only and is apparently about equal in rarity to
the 1879 normal date variety, per certification services. However, a study
we did on this quite a few years ago, before certification services,
showed that the Overdate was nearly twice as elusive as the regular date.
Although 3,200 Proofs are said to have been coined during the year, it is
doubtful that as many as 2,000 examples could be accounted for today. The
vast majority of surviving examples are found in the Proof-64 to Proof-66
range with Proof-65 being the modal grade. Proof-67 examples are rare, and
anything above that level is all but unobtainable. The presently offered
specimen is the sole finest Proof 1879 nickel ever certified by PCGS. The
finest certified by NGC grades Proof-68. A prize for the collector who
desires the finest quality available.
PCGS# 3834.
Pedigree: Ex: Just Having Fun Collection.
PCGS Population: 1, none finer.
