1979 Topps Hockey Fun Packs?

Never heard of '79s. Anybody think these are legit? Auction ends soon and I'm considering placing a bid, even though I'll most likely get outbid.

Don't know about 79 hockey packs in fun bags specifically, but Topps definitely sold Fun Bags with a combination of sports and non-sports packs, usually 2-card "fun" packs, or penny packs.

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

Ripping 2 card fun packs is the way to go. For a high end rookies, is the gum damage card preferable over the wax stain card?

I like to think of myself as an expert (albeit a self-proclaimed one!!) when it comes to these; I bought plenty of them as a six- year old starting back in 75 and own a few gai graded ones from 74 and 75. I dont think I ever can remember topps putting 79 hockey packs in these, ever (although I could be wrong) and I was under the impression that whenever there were hockey packs in the bags for other years they were always of the full-size variety (ie 78-79); other sports ie baseball and football were always 2-card packs but to the best of my knowledge basketball and hockey were always full-sized packs. And whats even more glaring is how empty the bag looks ie how much empty space the bag has: the three bags I have are all pretty tightly packed with hardly any empty space.

Doesn't look like $3.00 worth of packs (retail) are in that bag...that is how many packs should be in the bag which would equate to 15 20c packs...which was price per wax pack in 1979.

Remember these were not just all hockey packs in the bag, it was a mixture of various Topps packs, inluding non-sport. I remember buying the baseball version of these back in the 70s.
