Please post a coin from 1947 in memory of my friend

Last week my mentor and very best friend lost his battle with cancer. Knowing it was coming and seeing him deal and accept what life was giving him was nothing less than inspiring. Even when facing death, like he had on numerous occasions during his tour in Vietnam, he still kept his sense of humor and wit. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. To say he was one of a kind, is an understatement. John was a man's man, a veteran, a father, a husband, a friend, boxing promoter, a mentor, and always a lawyer. I've been at a total loss for awhile now, and haven't been able to react. It will be a difficult week as I say goodbye to my friend. Half a league, half a league, Half a league onward...

Cris, after hearing nothing but good things about him from you, in our PM's, I can't even guess as to how you are feeling. I know he was much more than a friend to you. Keep your chin up, I know he would have insisted on it. My most sincere condolences go out to you, the office staff, his family, everyone who's life he touched.

I don't have a 1947 coin to post, so I am displaying my 1847-D half eagle, in John's honor. I've owned this piece for almost 32 years, so it's an old friend as well.

Cris That was really a Great Write Up on Johns Life and its Easy to see Why you Felt he was your Mentor and Friend. I also think that he was Lucky to Have you as His Friend. In the End we all hope to have someone around to remember the good times we shared.

Its not always easy to say goodbye to the Special ones in our lifes and just Remember all the good times you shared. My condolonces to you and his Wife and family. Hang in there buddy...........Tom

Sorry I don't have a 1947 coin, but I will tell you that it just hurts to hear cancer stories. I sure wish more could be done. I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend and I'm sure he's reaping his rewards in Heaven.

I was born in 1947 also and was in Vietnam also......we could have been there at the same time.....who knows.

I hate to hear stories like these. I've lost a few friends as
well to this horrible disease. I wish there were a cure. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Thanks for the kind words and support. My friend was finally laid to rest last week Thursday at Arlington National. Not a day goes by that I don't miss that guy.
