Here are a couple of 1956-D Lincolns from a 1956 Mint Set I purchased years ago. The images are by Bob Campbell and I think he did an excellent job.

They do have a distinct golden yellow tone. From what I've seen it's not an uncommon toning from Lincolns of that mint and time frame.

Very impressive. Great photos. I like '56-D's. There Are a lot of RPM varieties that year.

Very nice and they do have that strong gold color that makes them bright and stand out.
