3 new busties for your enjoyment

Picked these up the other day at a very small local show. The older holders with the beistle name on them i thought adds to the coolness factor. All have an older cleaning but was able to purchase them accordingly. Any comments are welcome good or bad.

    Nice coins!

Double and triple profiles are not especially rare. I've even seen quadruple and quintuple. They're cool nonetheless.

The 1823 is obviously hairlined and cleaned improperly. What do the others look like in hand? The 1825 doesn't look too bad at all.

A lot of coin dealers out there have triple chins too.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

the 25 certainly looks the best with plenty of luster remaining. The other two aren't as bad as the photos would suggest but certainly have had an older cleaning. All three have xf+ to au details. Ill post some reverse picks in the near future. The 23 does have some die clashes on the reverse but if I remember correctly is somewhat common also.

The holders don't have Capital on them but figured they are the maker

Neat coins. Just curious....are the double and triple profiles Overton varieties?

I will have to defer to the bust half experts as far as Overton attributes go

All bust halves are Overton varieties...die marriages, technically. Doubled profiles are not distinct ones.

The double, triple, etc profiles are strike doubling (aka machine doubling). Some die marriages are known to have a large number with multiple profiles.

  • Congratulations. I think that the overdate and doubling/tripling make them really interesting pick-ups.
