From the "general public" point of view, the Saddle Ridge hoard is pretty hard to beat for a coin related story. I heard plenty of "non-coin" people bring it up in conversation.
Inside the coin community, the Gold Kennedy fiasco was hard to avoid hearing about.....(Lord knows I tried!)
Definitely the Saddle Ridge Hoard. I had numerous conversations with people in my family and community about it after they saw it on the news. Nothing else coin related hit the main stream media like that did this year.

We still have a few months to go so "The Single Biggest Coin Story" may yet unfold. At its peak the Saddle Ridge Hoard story reportedly generated more internet hits than any other "coin story" in history. Of course in this day of instant news gratification the world moves on quickly so the holding power is transitory.

Absolutely agree. I'm still ticked.
