  • I've seen a slough of toner Warnix like this hitting the market in NGC holders lately. They are not all alike, but are quite similar. Some look more NT or MA or AT than others. This particular piece looks closer to AT to me. There is splotchiness to the toning, and the colors don't progress as smooth as expected. I know toning does shadow devices, but it does so on this obverse especially so and abruptly. It looks too neat, the color line from green to red in front of the face, too precise. I see some elevation chromatics going on, but it just doesn't look right. Very tough to grade from that set of photos. 66?
I have existed since the creation of this world and will exist until its end. Only my form will change. For these 80 human life years, I have the benefit of having a functioning body and consciousness. I will not waste this opportunity.

    AT big time. imho.
I'm the Proud recipient of a genuine "you suck" award dated 1/24/05. I was accepted into the "Circle of Trust" on 3/9/09.
  • Nice toning but no way I would have paid that much for the coin with that mustache.

AT all the way. Especially the reverse.
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.
Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.
  • Clearly AT. Grade does not matter until that filth is removed.

All these "Appalachian Collection" nickels are graded by the 3 letter TPG usually at MS66 or 67. And I they all look alike. With the green and red/pink toning.

I have heard of the Appalachian hoard, but am not familiar with the look. This particular coin I was thinking "well just might be NT" from the obverse, but when I got to the reverse, it was "Nope, Its AT all the way"

I'll prolly regret this statement but...... AT or NT really doesn't matter IF its MA.

My vote would be A.T. until someone can explain the colors. Never encountered pinks like
    this on WT nickels before.

Had not seen any of these yet from NGC... would like to compare a few. Toning does not flow as smooth as it might, as machoponcho said.
