opc player sets thread (and official petition request)

is there any type of campaign listed to start official opc baseball player or team sets to the registry?

is the consensus that there isn't enough interest by set builders to warrant them being added or just not enough time and resources on psa's side?

I personally like the cards, especially rough cuts and would like to see them added, but I also like the fact that they have been cranking out subs pretty quickly as well and wouldn't want to take anything away from that...

curious on your stance?

I don't understand why this is a issue.

This should have been done already. There are m,any collectors for this stuff.

The most frustrating part is getting OPC cards listed in to some player registry sets - rookie sets etc.

Example: Here is Randy Johnson's rookie registry and I couldn't get the Johnson OPC added....why?

    Set Composition

    Issue Card# Weight
    1989 DONRUSS RANDY JOHNSON RR 42 1.00
    1989 FLEER RANDY JOHNSON 381 1.00
    1989 SCORE RANDY JOHNSON 645 1.00
    1989 TOPPS RANDY JOHNSON 647 1.00
    1989 UPPER DECK RANDY JOHNSON 25 2.00
    Divisor: 6.00

I collect O Pee Chee and would applaud them if they added the team sets to the registry. If there is a petition going on, please add my name to it LOL.
I'm not a fan of the "extreme" rough cut, but a very minor one to prove it wasn't sheet cut is my main focus. I'm collecting 1980 OPC baseball at the moment, and have only managed to acquire about 40 in the last year due to the extra scarcity of that particular year. I will be collecting other years at some point, and since this was a major manufacturer, they should be added.
Always looking for OPC "tape intact" baseball wax boxes, and 1984 OPC baseball PSA 10's for my set. Please PM or email me if you have any available.

I tried to get an OPC Clemente basic player set started. I was denied.

Here's a question for the ages- Why does PSA care? Wouldn't it bring in more interest? More registry sets equals more interest in grading. Just plain silly, especially considering that OPC player sets are allowed for hockey.

I am an opc baseball collector and would like opc player and team sets to be added. I fear that there may be a "lack if interest" factor that may be a reason why PSA has not added these. I too like the rough cuts and actually prefer them to sharp edges on cards.

Odd decision, not enough interest? Are they doing some form of marketing survey or is that just a cop out image. Kidding aside, I thought you could start a player registry, as long as you had I think 5 different graded cards of a particular player, that you want a Basic/Master, whatever set of. Seems like they would allow OPC specific sets for players as well provided a person has enough PSA graded, OPC in this instance, cards. Really is odd.

Edit: I see quite few basic Topps sets for instance, scattered around registries. Why not OPC?..........

I tried a while back to start a "1978 OPC Red Sox Team Set" and was told by PSA that I needed to send them a "check list", which I have not gotten around to yet.
I hope that if I had, they would have started it.
I did however get a "1970-1979 OPC Bruins Team Checklist" set started with a "Set Request" and a checklist of the available cards.
(Side note to 1973 OPC Hockey collectors, they wouldn't distinguish between the "Light" and "Dark" backs)

I am definitely on board for adding opc. Has Joe every said why they are not included? they made regular sets from 1965 - the mid 90's. Let's call Joe and find out.

I have not reached out to O. personally, but I have tried twice thru the set request process over the span of a year or so and keep being told that there is not enough demand.

might be true, but still. not knocking anyone elses collections, but some of the sets they have added still don't have any registered participaters.

they might be behind the ball, staff wise as well.

I requested a few player sets that have been sitting for well over 6+ months and still haven't been added.

still see them on the "player requested sets" but still nada

Whenever they won't add a set, just create your own Showcase. Not eligible for set registry awards, but an easy way to display.

ETA: There's a nice Nolan cello run in there and a lot of other great stuff.

If gets more people involved in the registry, why wouldn't they want to add it. Ultimately, it means more grading for them.

not too mention another country of collectors that might not necessarily build topps sets.

My request for a 2014 Pannini World Cup Stickers Netherlands Team Set was okayed without any problem. How did that pass the "not enough interest" test?

I have been building 1970's Cincinnati Reds OPC PSA team sets for a number of years. I have tried to have them added to the team set registry several times without success. I have them in my showcase but I see no reason why they can't be added.
