Buyer beware Drew Brees Topps Chrome Rookie

Anyone looking to buy a Drew Brees Topps chrome rookie should know that This one has received a N6 from psa for minimum size requirement. It was a BGS 8.5 crack out though. I just sold this exact card and made sure I made it clear in the description. Looks like this seller is looking for a quick flip by not mentioning the N6

That's good. Just check the serial number if you are in the mkt for this card. #046/999 has gotten an N6. That's not to say it couldn't get a 9 if it's resubbed ... I just think the buyer should know that info before bidding

    I sent him this note

"Are you the original owner of this card? Reason I ask is I think the card is short (did a pixel count), but if you were the only only and pulled it from the pack I will bid.

    Please let me know"

    His response

"No, it was given to me as a gift by my dad, and I don't know where he got it. You're the second person who's mentioned this - looking a little narrow. I might end the listing to be safe. Could it be miscut from Topps?"

Ha. I bought it on eBay in bgs holder a while ago.. Cracked and subbed it to psa and it got returned for min size req. I don't think it was trimmed.. Just miscut but then again I don't have anyway of knowing for sure... I just figured no one would trim a modern card like that..

  • The fact that the card was once graded, to me, makes the fact that it also came back as trimmed negligible. TPG's aren't infallible, so I don't see why we should treat them as such.

Also, why are Topps Chrome Refractors on player RC registries when they are inserts and aren't considered "true" RCs? They don't allow true base set auto RCs, but they allow serial-numbered parallels/inserts? Doesn't make sense.

It didn't come back as trimmed. It came back as N6. It's short, noticeably short.

In 2001, all Topps Chrome football base rookies were refractors. There is no nonrefractor version of the card.
