From Raw to PSA Gold or Bust

Just wondering what raw pick-ups you had that worked out well when subbing. For me nothing too significant as I don't sub much, but...

Wins:
'64 LaRussa RC local card show pick-up $ 5 to PSA 9, made $150+
'75 Morgan, part of raw set buy hard to determine but I knew it was one of a few worth subbing, we'll say $10 investment got a PSA 9 = $90 gain
'63 Fleer Spahn, flea market find $10 investment, graded SGC 88. +$75
'06 UD Young Guns Malkin raw $50, graded PSA 10 probably doubled value
'75 Brett, bought with nice set thought it could grade high, probably $100 I put on this, graded 8, doubled my money
'84 Lemiuex RC, bought raw @ $50 graded PSA 9, +$75 gain

Losses:
Subbed a few fresh '71 commons hoping for possible 8.5s or higher, two came back 8s, one 7, two others did not meet 7.5 min grade Loss = $50 worth of submission costs
'57 Williams, bought it raw and did not see scratches, came back a "5" bought it at 6.5 cost. Loss = $150

Overall, did a little bit better than worse. Your experiences?

    $80 purchase of a 1986 Jordan sticker came back a PSA 9
$40 1990 Score Supplemental set and the Smith came back a PSA 10

Unfortunately I could name about twice as many that did not turn out as well..

Cherry picked this from 8 raw copies a dealer had available. Paid full market value, but now worth 10 times that:

Picked this up in a lame card shop for $40, I believe:
