This 10 pack submission was logged in on June 3rd.
I got them back in the mail yesterday, so here they
are, with pictures.
A little back story first.
I've been working on a PSA graded baseball wax
pack run from 1975 through 1989, and finally finished
that project with the purchase of a 1975 full sized pack,
a fairly difficult one to find. Oddly enough, the second
hardest graded pack for me to find was a 1986.
That brings me to this submission.
At the same time I was working on the wax packs,
I was also working on a graded run of cello packs
with stars on top from the same '75-'89 time period.
Again, the 70s and early 80s packs were fairly easy
to find (with the exception of '76, which was a bear),
but I hit a roadblock with some of the junk years.
People didn't send those years in to be graded, for
obvious reasons.
I needed an '86, an '88 and an '89 to finish my run,
and they were just not out there to be had, so that
left me with only one choice, and that was to send
them in myself.
So, I bought a box each of those three years from
BBCE, pulled what I needed to, and sent them in.
Here are the results.
The '79 Catfish Hunter, I bought from eBay about
two years ago. I was hoping for an 8, but It's okay.
These two packs came from the '86 box I got
from BBCE. Over half of the packs were wrapped
upside down, which was a common thing with '86s
I sent the Tony Gwynn off about two weeks before
he died. I had no idea he was so bad off. Scored
a 10 with it though.
I sent in two packs each of the '86 and '88 in
case one of them didn't grade for some reason,
That way I wouldn't be stuck in the same shape
I was in before I sent them off. Everything
graded though, so no worries. Another score
on the Robin Yount.
The '89 box I got from BBCE had virtually no
stars on top, so I only sent in the one Tommy
John pack and hoped for the best. Worked
out fine.
I'm not sure why I sent these packs in. I
think they were part of some theme or
other, but for the life of me, I can't remember
what it was.
I knew the '79 checklist would be a problem,
due to a small slit in the upper left corner,
fairly common with these tight wrapped cellos.

I just got my June sub back last week, too~small sub consisting of 3 1979 cellos and 3 1980 cellos~highlight was a PSA 10 1979 cello with Brett on top that I pulled from a BBCE box I bought back in 2011 (when boxes were $400 instead of $1,400, lol)..
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Thanks Tim.
Good job on the '79 Brett.
Yeah, my '82 checklist was getting lonely all
by itself, so I decided to give it some company.
