eBay Order Cancellation

Hi All,

This is slightly off topic, since the item I'm asking about is not sports card related (I bought a phone cover), but most of you guys know more than I do about ebay.

I purchased an item that ended up not working out. The seller was willing to take it back and refund my money. I mailed the item back to the seller yesterday (with tracking), but the seller refunded my money today (seller has not received the item back) and has submitted an order cancellation. I have an ebay message asking me to respond to agree to cancel the order.

Should I be weary of complying? I don't know if this is one of these weird loopholes where my refund will be withheld if I comply. It's just strange that the seller would have refunded my money before receipt of the product.

Canceling the order gets his ebay fees returned. I imagine, thats why he wants to do it.

you got your money, so you are good. he just doesn't want to eat the fees and I don't blame him.

If you received your refund, go ahead and agree to cancel the auction.

On something cheap like that it's easier for the seller to do it now while it's fresh in his mind, plus it's supposed to make you feel a little better about the process when it comes time for you to leave feedback and rate the transaction. The only person on the hook is the seller and he doesn't want any shipping delay or mix-up to leave you waiting too long for a refund.
