RG3 Down
The replay of the injury doesn't look good, he is out at least a few games and I wouldn't be surprised if he broke his ankle.
Kirk has lead the Redskins to a 21-7 lead. I followed Kirk Cousins in college and he was like the Tom Brady for MSU. I think he fits better in Jay Gruden's offense that RG3.

As unbelievable as it is, there are three Spartans playing a game right now as QB in the NFL as I type this.

LOL, I'm not sure, but Drew Stanton is playing for Arizona, and Hoyer in Cleveland.
if you watched the game, cousins looked nice for certain stretches but he also got lucky on 4-5 other throws that will be interceptions in coming weeks
and keep in mind this was JAX - if he consistently completes 1 pass each to jackson and garçon i don't imagine he's going to remain successful

<< <i>Dislocated ankle. Yuck. >>
yep - that's what i was afraid of, didn't look like it was only going to be a sprain
at least it wasn't his knee i guess
If Capt Kirk plays well, could RG3 get cut? His cap number is $6.7 million in 2015, a lot for a back-up QB.

RG3's not going to get cut. When he's healthy, he'll be starting again. Cousins was the backup for a reason, nothing changed today.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. Is there not also a reason Cousins was drafted in the same draft (ie. in case this RGIII fellow turns out to be brittle)? Without his wheels, RGIII has proven to be a pretty mediocre pocket passer, and this current injury will take a little more speed from him. It all adds up over time making him less effective. If Cousins has a solid year and makes the playoffs, I think there is real potential to cut ties with him.

I would say this one:

Playoffs? Playoffs? I literally laughed out loud! I guess there's a chance as the Giants and Cowboys aren't very good, but Philly should run away with this division regardless of who is the QB in DC.
Go see the Mike & Mike discussion this morning with Cris Carter, I think he hit it on the head. RG3 is way more talented and athletic, has a much higher ceiling than Cousins. If Cousins plays ok, he'll get traded in the offseason and that will be that. He's not a franchise QB, maybe RG3 isn't either but that's a different conversation. Cousins is a border line starter, he's a pretty good backup.
<< <i>What team is Jeff Smoker on? >>
The retired team.
Based on today's ebay new listings, a lot of people took my advice.
I'm holding off until the next game. If he puts up 300 yds and 3 TDs, it will be a frenzy.

2012 Panini National Treasures AU/99.
<< <i>Obviously you are biased towards RGIII, which is totally fine. I'm looking at it from a practical angle without Mike & Mike's help. I'm from the DC area (although not a fan of the Skins), but enjoyed the 2012 rookie campaign of RGIII. Assuming he's out for this year and can play in 2015, he's three years removed from his old athletic self when he came into the league and may never be the same player again. The new coaching staff didn't draft him and there have been rumblings all summer that Cousins is a better fit for Gruden's offense (think Andy Dalton). Even if Cousins has an average year, but plays well in the system and the coaching staff believes in him why would they trade him over keeping RGIII who could very well get hurt again early in the 2015 season and now the Redskins wouldn't have a quality back-up? Seems to me this would make the most sense for the football team. >>
I could see them still sticking with Griffin when (if?) he's healthy simply because of all the draft picks they had to spend to get him. The thinking might be, "we spent all those picks on this guy, we HAVE to keep trying him and make this work". Plus, Dan Snyder seems to like him a lot, so that is a factor not to be overlooked.

Many a franchise have gone down with that ship. The Redskins have an out since RG3 is "injury prone", plus he does not fit Gruden's offense.
<< <i>I think Jeff Smoker was riding in the back seat with LeVeon Bell and LeGarrette Blunt (yes I meant that).

Charles Rodgers was in there also.

I just had a flashback to the stack of Charles "Amsterdam" Rogers RCs that I bought after his first injury......just like RG3, I thought it was a lock he would come back.

No, not really. Yes, I'm a Baylor fan and alum. Yes, I like RG3. However, I don't like the Redskins and kind of wish he had gotten drafted anywhere else but there. Snyder isn't a good owner IMO, other than being willing to cut checks.
Back to the OP, I agree if you have Cousins cards now is the time to sell them, or certainly sometime in the near future.

I agree that's been the rumor and kind of played out that way in the preseason. It very well may end up being true. But objectively speaking, RG3 is just a better athlete and usually that's what wins out - assuming he can stay healthy at all but even if can't be 100%.
<< <i>Many a franchise have gone down with that ship. >>
Mainly because there just aren't that many really good QBs out there. I don't think do it out of loyalty, it's more a supply / demand problem.
Anyway, I'm just going on the record and saying Cousins is incredibly over-rated already and he hasn't even started a game this year. He and a nice game against probably the worst team in the league. I'm interested to see what happens when he faces even a .500 type team with an actual defense. System can help, but ultimately you need to be good.
Unless you're Trent Dilfer, I guess.
