A Great Day

I'm a Dodger fan who was born, raised and currently lives in the SF Bay Area. I made a deal with my dad shortly after my sons birth, that I would raise him a Giants fan, at least until he reached the age of reason. Lo and behold, his favorite color is orange, so he may end up a Giants fan for life. That's fine, since Willie Mays is my favorite player.

Anyway, Tuesday night we're watching the Giants game, when my boy decides to melt my heart by saying, "Dad. Will you take me to a baseball game?" Uhh yeaaah! So I'm immediately on the schedule, knowing there's only a few games left and we need a day game, cuz he's 5 and a 7:30 game ain't gonna fly. Luckily, there was a day game today. Scored some 3rd baseline tix and took the train. He had a blast. Two foul balls within 20 feet and they won! Though I think he liked the Coca-Cola slide best of all. What an awesome day!!!

Here's us hanging out with Willie.

And when we got home, Willie was waiting for us. I had a new Registry piece waiting for me in the mail, which helps to keep this thread on topic.

No Work. No School. Seriously a great and special day.

Jim, it does not get any better than a day at the ballpark with your son.

    I give it a 9.5 out of 10.

I had to deduct half a point for no mention of peanuts, Cracker Jacks, and/or apple pie. image

Great story, Jim... hopefully this father/son game turns into a father/son tradition for you both.

Jim ... that must have been a thrill for both you and your son ... probably more so for you!!!!! Although I don't remember the details, I do know I was 4 yrs old when my dad took me to my first game ... it was at the old Polo Grounds to watch the Mets play in 1962.

That's a great picture you have of the two of you. Cherish it!
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

+1. A thousand great memories from each time I took one of my sons to their first game at Fenway. Their reactions to seeing the green of the grass and the Monster, and their favorite players only a few feet away. Congrats, so glad to hear you had a special day!
