Can somebody tell me what is going on here with Fedex SmartPost???

I purchased an item off Ebay on Aug 24, the seller shipped out the package the next day on Aug 25,
on Aug 30, the package was in Sacramento which is less than 2 hours drive from my house in California
the initial delivery date was Sep 8th, but by looking at the tracking information below,
can somebody here tell me what is going on here, I have called Fedex at least 4 times,
they keep telling me it was in US postal service hands, but apparently it is not...
the sender sent the item by Fedex SmartPost.... I think they should change the name to StupidPost,
even they deliver the item on foot from Sacramento, I should have the package by now.

Step 3 - skip the regular phone drones and ask to talk to the dept. that handles lost packages.

I used to use FedEx ground from DC to NYC. 1 day service! Except once. It made it to NJ across the river and disappeared for a day. It then showed up in Columbus, OH. When I called, the phone drone told me: "maybe it needed to go to OH"

Get someone else on the phone.

That is the way smartpost is run by FedEx and the post office .. it takes packages 100s , thousands of miles out its way to deliver at a cheaper price.. Several times the smartpost has lost or delayed packages for items I have ordered
if the post office is involved.... I will not buy

Imagine if they, heaven forbid, used USPS 1st class mail. It would have been received by you 8/28. But they saved $0.25 and as a result you had the opportunity to ride the emotional roller coaster with out the traffic jams, kids going crazy in the car, bad food and lousy motel mattresses. Such a deal the shipper should only have to endure each and every time they choose that shipping method.

Just checked again, finally as of today, the package arrived at the Fedex StupidPost again.
It will be interested to find out whether it will be delivered to Indiana again.
The thing upsets me most is when I called up Fedex (at least 4 times),
they all said the same thing (since Aug 30) that the package "IS" in the us postal office and
and they have no access/control for the package, and asked me to call US postal office,
It seems to me they just totally ignored their own tracking.
They have worst customer service in my opinion.
