This can't be true?!? 1875 G 5 Mark inverted V ?

I bought this coin yesterday for $30. Yes, $30. I did some research, but cannot find much.

Is this really the coin that's so valuable?

Also, it appears to be the "inverted V" variety worth thousands???

Yes, but only VF. I would price it retail at about $75. Even choice XF aren't worth more than $500.

Well that makes 3 different dates with the inverted V - 1875, 1886, and 1888. Are they all like that?

Interesting coin. I would say that it is the inverted V variety. Not Xf, but better than F. Still, a neat variety and a nice coin to add to the collection for $30. A coin is worth whatever it sells for. You could try selling it on ebay, and see what it brings, if selling it is your plan. You may get up to $200 for it, or even a little more. I would just keep it. JMHO.

Seems many here are grading this coin by the reverse. The Reverses on most issues with this reverse are always at least a grade better than the Obv!

I have looked at the 3 Baden five mark coins that I have and all have the A in BADEN. They cover a period of decades. However the cross bar of the A is weak on all of them. This in contrast to the A of MARK on the reverse where the crossbar is strong.
