Latest Pick-Up! Magic 81' PSA 10

These were my favorite cards growing up for some reason. These and 81 Football is what me and my brother bought as a 12 and 13 year olds. It still perplexes me that the 81 Magic Johnson PSA 10 sells for less than half of the bird.

I just picked up this beauty to go along with my Bird.

That is a beautiful card. Very nice pick up! Do you collect Magic and Bird? If so, maybe we could help each other with some trades....

I absolutely love the card. I have a beat up copy of that somewhere. Being from Indiana, Bird is at the top for me.

I will say, with that particular card, that there were initially significantly more Magic's that graded PSA than Birds. The gap has narrowed significantly over the years, but the price has not corrected itself any. Bird is clearly more collected than Magic, which is fine with me, since Magic is may favorite athlete of all time and it makes his cards more affordable even though they have largely the same inventory.

Magic is loved. Laker lovers love Magic. heck, Dodger lovers get to love Magic.

but, there is nothing like the love lavished upon all-time great Celtics. the passion Celtics fans feel for their heroes is immeasurable.

i'd assume that Bird is an across-the-board favorite over Magic in most facets of the hobby, particularly cards. except for the one they share. image
  • Even though the 81 Magic is the much better looking card I'm still more a Bird fan. Great pickup!

  • These 2 cards are so underrated and undervalued. They are tough to find, are the first cards by themselves and are legends.

Awesome card - one of my favorites!

Be careful though, this is how it started for me. I ended up in a 12 Step group for Master Set recovery.

For a while it got so bad that I was Master Setting four times a day.
