What is the best Tom Brady RC?

I got out of collecting in the early/mid-90's and didn't get back into it seriously until the end of 2012. I don't know anything about football cards between 1991 and 2012. I am thinking of getting a Tom Brady PSA 10 RC to add to my collection. Which is his best RC for under $100? and $500? Thanks in advance to anyone with advice.

I guess I really dont know, I like his Bowman, but that aint it for top end. Good question.
Now im kinda curious myself.
<< <i>The 2000 Bowman Chrome card is the best cheap non-auto one i believe. The 2000 SP Authentic is the best one (numbered to 1250). >>
Doh, slow reply
Yea, prolly what he said
Generally speaking, the 2000 Playoff Contenders is considered his best.
For under $500 in PSA 10 his 2000 Pros & Prospects (x/1000) is probably the most expensive right around that $500 figure, albeit an unpopular release as a whole and not particularly attractive. His Bowman Chrome RC goes for ~$150-$200 less and is popular since it's his only Chrome rookie. The Bowman Chrome is a lot more attractive in my opinion, but obviously isn't as limited at the P&P.
Under $100 in PSA 10 is wider open and subject to more personal tastes... 2000 Bowman (not Chrome), 2000 Upper Deck, & 2000 Ultra probably lead the way generally speaking.
While many releases missed Brady as a late round pick he still has rookies in Score, Skybox Dominion, Skybox Impact, Upper Deck Black Diamond, Upper Deck Victory, quite a few Pacific releases, and a couple Collector's Edge products... some of these go for as cheap as $25.
Were I looking to add a PSA 10 to my collection that I thought was attractive and without breaking the bank, it would probably be the Bowman Chrome... which, curiously, is one of the few to actually show him in a Patriots uniform vs. practice or college gear.

Bowman Chrome - pop is high but most attractive at this price point. I think most people looking for a high grade Brady RC will add this card to their collection that don't want to pay upwards of $1,000 for a PSA 9 SP Authentic
SPx - nice looking card, numbered to 1350. I would say the price should be in between the bowman chrome & SPA, but has been creeping up a little
SP Authentic - his registry card & probably the most recognized Brady RC, numbered to 1250. PSA 9s go for about 900-1200 at auction, and PSA 10s will run you $3000+ I think this card could be looked at as a nice investment if you can buy at the lower end of those prices.
Playoff Contenders - his key auto card & considered a True RC. Not sure what PSA 9s have been running for, but I know a few 10s have privately sold in the $5,500 range.
Playoff Contenders Championship Ticket - numbered to 100 & a parallel version of the regular contenders. This card is autographed with a refractor like finish, and has the same foil chipping issues as the early SP baseball cards. For a Brady collector or ultra high end collector, this would be the one to purchase. Their are no PSA 10s & no BGS 9.5s graded. There are only 5 BGS 9s running upwards of $10k, and I've heard the sole PSA 9 on the pop report was cracked and crossed to bgs, but I have no proof of this.
He has a lot of nice other RCs that are serial numbered & have low print runs. I'd stick to the Bowman Chrome if you like the look of that card. Look forward to seeing what you picked up in your other thread. Love the Rice & Montana RCs

Brady is not in the 1981 Topps set?

Dan, I remember Giovanni Carmazzi. Don't remember where he was drafted, but I'm pretty sure he was a wasted second or third round pick of the 49ers. I remember hearing them draft him and being immediately disappointed.

He was the second QB drafted that year, behind Chad Pennington. The 49ers opted for local boy Carmazzi while passing on local boy Brady (who, as a local who idolized Joe Montana, wanted very much to play for the 49ers).
Gio never started a regular season game for the 49ers, losing the starting job to Tim Rattay who was selected by the 49ers a number our rounds after they picked Carmazzi... he was allocated to NFL Europe and finished his career in the CFL.
I bet the 49ers wish that had that draft to do all over again.

Rattay washed out a few seasons later.

I found it fun to look at this 10 year old thread and see the prices quoted then for some of his rookies. Champ tickets running at 10k!!! why oh why didnt i but a dozen of those???
it was also interesting to see the post where the author thought Brady rookies would go down in the future. I suppose 28-3 was still a few years away...
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
