2014 Topps baseball: print defect or variation?

I was collating some cards today and noticed this difference. 4 cards, all near each other in the set (631, 635, 642, 655) on which the blue on the back noticeably appears "washed out" and a little purplish. I've scanned them all here with their "normal" counterparts. You can see the difference in the photos, but it's even more striking in hand. Has anybody else noticed this? What is your take? Maybe since the numbers are close together they all were cut from the same sheet, that one sheet had a printing problem with the color mix of the blue, and I pulled them all from the same pack? I'm interested to hear thoughts.

I just went through some more cards and found the same difference on 3 cards in the 300's:

354 Donnie Murphy
365 Uggla
396 Brian Roberts

Can anybody chime in on this?
