What player (or person) would you guess has the most cards graded by PSA?

I don't know if there is a way to check this, but I know who my guess would be. It would be interesting to see the Top 10.
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!

Ryan maybe? long career through a ton of regular and oddball issue sets, along with a popular registry.

I would guess Griffey Jr. Biggest star from the mass production era.

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.

    +1 Ryan

looking at the pop reports, I think Jordan has Ryan beat. there have been over 7,000 1989 hoops jordan cards graded. that boggles the mind. Griffey #s way high too.
  • I'd have to go with Jeter

I'd say either Griffey or Jordan. I thought Griffey because of the multiple rookies, but Jordan probably has more cards out there, considering a lot of specialty sets from Upper Deck.

That's my guess too. I started the Jeter PSA Master Registry Set a couple of years ago and it is now at about 5,000 cards in the set. In fact, the rate at which new cards are being added to the set is surpassing the rate at which I'm adding cards to my set. I'm getting further behind every week.
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all "right-thinking" people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as “bad luck.”

95% sure it's griffey after looking at pop report. he's got 200k submissions for 1989 issues alone. jeter has about 45k for 1992+1993, dropping from there. my new dream is to get one of the 836 1990 donruss PSA 8 griffeys out there. #MissionPossible

I like the Ryan guess. What about Cal Ripken?

When I asked the question, I was thinking it would be Jordan. Now I am not as convinced. Ryan had a lot of cards. Griffey too. Jeter's career has mostly occurred after I stopped following the modern releases, so I can't say.

  • When I first saw the question, my immediate thought was Mantle. Then after reading the responses, I took off my blinders as a non modern collector and realized that with all the merchandise out there for today's players, that would make more sense.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.

of those we talked about, it appears to be griffey, jordan/jeter and then ryan/ripken. Ryan looks to be about 85k in total max.

Ken Griffey Jr. is my guess.

  • I guess Griffey and its not even close.

When I first saw the topic, Griffey Jr. 1st came to mind
His '89' rookies are easy to find and a ton has been graded

someday Junior will be recognized as the patron saint of 3rd party grading. we should each privately thank him in our prayers anytime another one of our PSA nuggets pays for life's necessities.

I would think it would be Griffey, Ryan and Jordan. There are so many of these cards from every set.

is the question total number of cards graded or total number of different cards graded?

there are 5257 different cards in the Favre master set and counting.

I was thinking of total cards, but most different is an interesting question too!

...because I'm bored -- according to the pop report -- Junior is at about 362k graded items. An alarming number of 1-5s as well.
  • bziddybziddy Posts: 710 ✭✭✭
    Jeter is at 130k
  • Would super sets give us a clue of the largest different cards. I thought mantle or Ruth with all the ways they bring back the past. I asked psa to make mantle super set in March still not listed. No clue how many cards it will be.

Then I read this thread and understand you can have one card in one year graded 1000 of times in the modern area

Ruth super set checked over 300 cards

Griffey 1989 upper deck over 58,000

    So not even close
