Old PSA Label vs. New PSA Label

Is there a general consensus regarding PSA flips and the toughness of the grade? In other words, did PSA grade tougher back in the day or do they grade tougher most recently? I am looking at some cards wilth old flips and trying to decide if they under or over graded compared to the current standards.

Thanks for your thoughts.

My thought is that anything graded with the flip where the red border has rounded corners was a period of grading that was maybe a little more lenient than others.
  • My opinion is that PSA grades tougher more recently. I think the current standards are stricter. For example, cert #'s that start with a '0' are ones that I usually examine more closely to see if they really deserved that grade.

I think of grading like a sawtooth- up and down constantly.
Never look at the number, just look at the card. Based on my experience and those of a lot of others I've spoken to or read here, a card can be a 6 or an 8 on any given day.
