Quick question for all the unopened pack specialists

Hi, i took a chance on ebay and purchased an ungraded 1970 Topps baseball 4th series wax pack. The seal looked good in scan. I received it today and immediately questioned it. Does anyone know the size of the gum that was issued in this pack/series? I remeber the gum being almost as wide as the cards when I was younger (early 70's). The gum in this pack is about half the width of the card.

any feedback is appreciated. Thanks, Tom

The gum in a 1970 wax pack should be rather thick compared to the skinnier sticks Topps used in the 1980s, and longer than those used later in the 1970s. However, it's not nearly as wide as the width of the card itself. I would say width should be about 1 1/4" wide and 2 7/8" long.

It should be as you describe. Not quite 1/2 the width of the card. It was never as wide as the card. Not even close. I'd worry if it were the narrower/longer stick used in the later 70s
I can get an exact measurement for u later

Tom, did you buy the pack from snappledrinker?? If so, it looks good to me and besides, he's a reputable seller.

Measuring as best I could through a PSA slab, I'd be hard pressed to contradict Tim's measurements by any more than 1/16".

Thanks guys. In case you haven't heard it in a while, you're freakin awesome. And yes, I did buy it from snappledrinker. I guess as a 5 year old used to getting a 1/2 stick of Wrigley's from his dad, it must have seemed huge. Thanks for the replies.
