Why would PSA remove a variation from POP report now?

This is 1 of 2 well know variations from the 1971 OPC Baseball set.

This is card #27 which comes with the Yellow team letters and the more difficult variation with Red team letters.

The other variation is also with Red/Yellow team letters on card #144 Jackie Hernandez.

Both of these cards were listed in the POP report by variation.

I sent in this card #27 with Red letters and now notice there is no pop for both variations. Why would they remove it?

The Hernandez variation is still listed in the pop report both ways.

Normally PSA removes cards from the pop report when they are being reviewed, but I have never heard of a complete removal unless it was a pop 1

I don't know exactly how many were listed but I my guess would be 8-10 on the Red variation and many more of the Yellow

Good question. I would contact PSA. There is another OPC in yellow on ebay now with no mention of the variation on the flip.

    Hi Tom,

I am the one who originally worked with ol' Mr. Bartsch to get the Hernandez variation published in the book and to have him contact PSA directly and confirm for them that it was a listed variation for them to begin including in their grading specs. I don't know about the #27 Rookies card. Was it ever published as a similar variation to #144? If not, you'll have to go through the same process I did before PSA will differentiate on the flip.

Hey, PSA graded 4 completely different versions of the 1986 Memphis Chicks Bo Jackson, but just puts them all in one population number, isn't that nice.
