checklist for the next series. The first series was printed with
both the 1st and 2nd series checklists.
In 1970 the checklists were
9 - First series, printed in the 1st series
128 - Second series, printed in the 1st series
244 - Third series, printed in the 2nd series
343 - Fourth series, printed in the 3rd series
432 - Fifth series, printed in the 4th series
542 - Sixth series, printed in the 5th series
588 - Seventh series, printed in the 6th series
However, to clean up "errors" on the checklists
Topps also included "correction" checklists on
most of the series such that the 2nd version of
the checklist for a series was actually printed with
the series it catalogued. For example, card 432 (the
5th series checklist) was first printed with series 4
and the word BASEBALL in yellow. It was then re-printed
on the 5th series sheet with the word BASEBALL in white.
That's basically how multiple versions of the checklists
occurred.
For 1970 there are 6 checklist variations as follows:
128 - period and no period
244 - red bat and brown bat
343 - red bat and brown bat
432 - see above
542 - brown bat and grey bat
588 - Adolfo and Adolpho
And if there were no errors then a 2nd printing
of the checklist for the series was part of the run for each
series
Hope that was useful

in those days.
1971 had variations in helmet color and/or font on the checklists.
If you look at pictures if uncut sheets from the day you can sometimes
make out the differences (if they are of high resolution)

<< <i>The 1971 coin CL was printed on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th series sheet as well, that is why some of those series are 130 cards not 131 >>
Fascinating, didn't know that. Are there any variations?

Honestly I have no idea, the pop report doesn't indicate a variation
