SF Bay Area Card Shops

Visiting my bro in SF this weekend and wondering if there are any shops in SF Bay Area that might have high grade vintage (i.e. pre 1976) HOF cards or RCs

Any suggestions?

    Here you go!

Belmont - Peninsula Sports 572 El Camino Real 650-595-5115
    Burlingame - Lefty’s 1859 El Camino Real 650-697-2274
Concord - Diamond Sportscards 1280-C Diamond Way 525-671-4737
    Danville - Talkin Baseball 103 Town & Country Drive, Suite H 925-743-9922
Novato - The Strike Zone 1205 Grant Ave 415-898-7995
    Pinole - 10th Inning 971 San Pablo Ave 510-724-5071
    San Leandro - M & M Sports 935 Manor Blvd 510-895-8029
San Jose - Stevens Creek Sports 3220 Stevens Creek Blvd #D 408-243-1120
San Rafael- Diamond Sportscards 1144 Fourth St 415-456-4105
Sunnyvale - South Bay Sports 566 South Murphy Ave 408-530-8250

I've never been there, but Lefty's is supposed to be a neat shop, with a good amount of memorabilia. They have an arrangement with the bay area teams where they will host signings.

I can vouch for Stevens Creek Sports as having primarily vintage when I lived there (2009-2011). Everything was organized by year with quite a bit of graded. When I was working on my 1969 Topps BB set, there was a gentleman negotiating a large deal to buy 15-20 1957 Topps BB (PSA8) cards. Prices are higher than Ebay of course but not too crazy. That said, I lived in the Bay Area at the time so price was a bit nonsensical for everything so I may have been numb at the time. If your brother is in SF proper, this will be about 45-50 minute drive one way.

SF is a great city. If you are looking for non-sports card activities, I highly recommend a drive to Half Moon Bay.

    Have fun!

Since I'll only be able to hit 1 maybe 2, which of these do you recommend the most as far as high grade psa graded vintage?

I'll also vouch for Steven's Creek Sportscards. I've been going there for 25 years (when they were known as 'Baseball Cards and Souvenirs). Kevin's great to deal with.

Stevens Creek is probably your best bet for decent vintage stock, but it is quite a ways from SF, about 50 miles each way and you've only got a window of about 10am to 3pm when you aren't going to hit any traffic jams on Hwy 101.

If you can only hit two near to SF they you should plan on Lefty's and Peninsula Sports Cards.

Careful with the knee grinder on the way down. I never experienced so much knee pain and I trained for months climbing hills before the hike. Ended up with planter fasciitis to boot. Not the type of 'FASC' you want to get! Having said that, I'd still do it all over again knowing what I would experience.

Were you able to make it San Jose during your trip last weekend? If so, any pickups to share?

Either way I'm sure you had a great trip. I miss that weather and the blue skies almost every day.

Didn't make it to Half Dome, unfortunately, as my brother has a pretty severe case of Plantar Fasciitis. Instead, I helped him move into his new house. No card shops, either. image

Given some of the stuff I've climbed, I'm pretty sure I'll be getting knee replacements by the time I'm 60.
