I walked into work today and immediately saw boxes of sports cards on the counter and in people's hands in line. Of the boxes a woman and, I guess, her husband had two boxes of '86 Fleer Basketball (I recognized the boxes from the front door, walked by to get a closer look and confirm it '86 Fleer. The other boxes were baseball, basketball and football).
Went to the back and got a hold of the people pricing our wares for the morning and asked about the cards. They said they priced each box $2.95 each and that "there's a bunch out there"
Checked it out...no packs, loose cards in each box, but they belonged to each company/year, so while I didn't see the Fleer '86s, I can only assume they were in there.
They knew not to put sports cards, comics or 'old' books out without me seeing them first!

I took the employees into the office and showed them how much the EMPTY boxes go for (even I was a bit shocked at the price!)
The only boxes they had were the 86s, so I'm pretty sure they knew what they had...I'm also not allowed to purchase anything in the store on days that I work (very strict shopping policy at Goodwill).
Umm, selling 86 Fleer Boxes for $2.95

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Just a little tip ... if any unopened '86 Fleer Boxes come into the store on the day you work ... QUIT AND BUY THEM IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!

I didn't see what was in the '86 Fleer because they were in customer hands at checkout, so I can only assume there were '86 Fleer in there. Heck, even if they were empty that's a heck of a deal.
For those confused, I work at Goodwill (one of the busiest in the company). Our store gets amazing donations daily and there's a slew of antique shops and online sellers who we supply with inventory.
When I left for the night there were about 20 boxes of random 80s/early 90s Football, Basketball and Baseball cards (again, all opened, no packs). I think all the good stuff got gobbled quickly.
The employees said they'd been selling them like hotcakes all morning until I got there.

There's an ongoing joke in the store that if any one of us disappears, then we must have found something really good lol.
<< <i>I didn't see what was in the boxes, but the ones that were still left had cards that matched the boxes they were in (91 Stadium Club Football cards in its 91 Stadium Club box, 89 Fleer Basketball in '89 Fleer Basketball box, et cetera). There were absolutely no unopened packs, or loose wrappers even, only cards.

Our local goodwill runs a auction once a month for the items they get that they feel have good value to them. That way don't get hosed and can get full value from the donations.
