A couple new additions: Brett Hull upgrade and a Lidstrom RC
Also, I already posted this in another thread but wanted to add it here...I purchased 1 ungraded pack of 1984 O-Pee-Chee hockey on ebay. I usually stop myself because most packs I buy are crap but I rip them anyways.
The LaFontaine and Neely RC's were back to back in the sequencing. Pretty sweet and both look PSA-worthy. The Ron Sutter is too O/C to be worth submitting.
<< <i>The Ron Sutter is too O/C to be worth submitting. >>
Wow, what an awesome '84 pack you got! I think you've got a little too much Sutter family on the brain though? I saw Darryl and Rich but no Ron in your scans ...
PSA Grading update: LaFontaine is an 8 (for sale) and Neely is a 9 Mint. The 1982 Ripken pulled from the BBCE pack came back a 7 (for sale).
I'm about 90% done with my 1986 Fleer Basketball set in PSA 8 or higher (mostly 8's). I think I have 12 left, mostly high-end commons. I'll share the full set once I have it complete.
I decided to pick up the remaining 2 Barry Sanders RC's to complete the rookie registry set.
Sandberg was a favorite non-Detroit Tiger growing up. I picked up a nice 9 from another boardmember building a 1983 Topps set in 10's:
I have my largest sub ever currently at PSA...decided that waiting for another $6ish/card special might keep me waiting for a while. Hopefully I'll have a handful to add to the personal collection, including some from the BBCE group rip. No news on the Tom Brady auto redemption from the 2000 Playoff Contenders.
And the biggest addition to my collection....Hank Aaron RC purchased from another boardmember. I've been eyeballing this card for a while, thinking it was out of reach. I figured I would jump in at a 5 and it looks great next to my '54 Al Kaline PSA 2. Not great centering, but I just love the color of this card. Also added a couple other iconic 1956 cards from the same seller. My first Mantle since I will likely never acquire his RC.
I never thought I'd own a Mick RC either, but it finally happened at the end of the year. I started realizing that with the money I had spent on various other RCs and Unopened, that I could have already purchased my Mick...and chased down some of this easier to find stuff over time, and without a significant change in price, but the longer I held off on Mick, the more likely I was to not own one. With that in mind, I slowed my roll on my purchases, and started the hunt. Eventually finding a nicely centered 2.
You Can Do It.
Good Luck. Jim

<< <i>Davis! Nice Work! Great color on the 54 Hank.

I agree..the Mickey RC's seem to have steadily increased since I've gotten back into the collecting game a little over a year ago. When you say "Mick RC", do you refer to the 1951 Bowman or 1952 Topps? It must have been a thrill to get either.
The 51B, and it was without question my biggest hobby rush. From identifying it, to getting clearance from the wife, getting advice from Matt (DMHOF), negotiating it, and then finally holding it.
I dig the 52T of course, but not sure I could ever find one of those within my budget that I'd be happy with for the price.

<< <i>84 OPC hockey is one of the greatest set designs of all time and I've always particularly liked the look of the Neely RC. >>
+1 Growing up in a non-hockey town, hockey cards were never prevalent at the cards shows I attended in my teens. I remember the first time I saw that Neely - a card show at the Sands in Las Vegas in 1991. I got a OPC set several years later. To this day still one of my favorite cards and I'm neither a Bruins nor Canucks fan.
A few new baseball additions/upgrades to the rookie card collection posted below. I think a full update may be in order as I look back at my older posts and some cards have been replaced with upgrades. Also, the 1986 Fleer Bball set in PSA 8+ is down to 8 cards needed.
A few months ago I decided to to go after the 1986 Fleer basketball set in PSA 8 or higher after I acquired the Michael Jordan. It took some time and I got some help from a handful of great boardmembers along the way. I was finally able to complete it after hitting a PSA 9 Sam Perkins in my latest sub. Below are pics of the set...sorry they aren't great pics and they have a glare, but I think it's cool to see them all laid out.
Thanks again to all the boardmembers that helped me out along the way!
Davis, awesome collection from the first post to the last! I love the 86 Fleer set. It is my favorite set in any sport. Congrats on completion, it looks great all laid out.
Congrats! Looks like you have some nice examples, from the pictures. One thing I like about your collection is your choice of some of the best cards across sports. Not fixed to any in particular, all very good selections. Great work.
Your timing couldn't have been better ( unless of course you started the set in 1986). Values on this set have risen dramatically just in the few months you have been buying them . If you were interested in doing so you could probably make a healthy profit by selling them now. Congratulations!
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy! Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !

I would rather own those 2 Barry Sanders Cards then the 1989 Score one that is worth more. I love game photography way more then the "Face" pictures.
