  • I have a 1980s baseball Kelloggs card of a nobody graded at a whopping PSA 5. The only reason was sentimental (memento from great grandma) . It's beyond me why some people pay for a crap card to get graded AND THEN proceed to sell the item. Great post...I've have the same thoughts on many other lots----even some in high dollar sales auctions!

I could see if it was a card that you have had since childhood and had sentimental value and you wanted encased.

Maybe this was a sentimental card to him but he REALLY needs $6...

I'm not ready to rule out stupidity, but people frequently have reasons for doing odd things. I also have a sentimental card I might slab. It's a Wade Boggs rc that should come back authentic. I might even stick it in one of Scott's awesome frames and hang it in my office. I think people also just don't get it at first and slab cards like this. There's lots of posts about people being surprised by the low scores with their first subs. This is extreme if that's the reason here, but it's definitely in the pool of answers regarding this topic in general.

I don't get it either Stingray. It makes no sense to me.

I would never have thought it, but some people actually believe that a graded card is worth more once its graded. I have had people come into the store with a PSA 9 Classic 4 sport Vladimir Guerrero and think its a $40 card simply because its graded

  • I had my oldest card from child hood graded. It came back a 1 1954 topps common. I have the only 1 of grade 1. But I wanted for the fact I had it since 1975. I would never sell it. Worth the 6 dollars

Maybe he needed one more card to reach a minimum card submission?

    Or maybe a moron?

I don't get why anyone else cares what other people get graded? People can spend their money however they would like. I see all kinds of things posted on this board that I wouldn't get graded or collect, but I would never think someone was "stupid" or a "moron" for doing so. I guess to me, collecting cards is a hobby, and I don't look at everything as a potential investment. In the end, I just collect what I like and don't worry so much about what others are doing.
