71 is OPC. Darn Canadians, LOL!

Very nice post, Doug~when you look at all those boxes, you can see why unopened has that special allure!

Series 1 73 box would be cool~Clemente, Rose, Aaron..hard to choose just one, LOL!

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

Not any more! LOL I was trying to find a box that also showed packs ... didn't even recognize the OPC label.

EDITED TO ADD: Why did I go thru all that trouble when all I had to do was do a search and find Anthony's post? LOL

I always liked the '57 design, as well as the '67. I guess I like that "action" shot.

I personally like the simplicity and colors of the 1953s. I also really like the layout and design on the 66s as well.

Awesome awesome thread thanks for posting! It never gets old looking at old wax and how designs have changed over the years. Love the look of the 53's, 66's and 72's especially. There really isn't one that I "dislike" , just prefer some over others.

    1969 is a close third.
  • I enjoyed looking at all the photos of the boxes throughout the year. Thanks for taking the time to do that Doug.

  • I'll cast a vote for '57 & '70 for most attractive wrappers.

And 1969 for the neatest box--love that late '60s flower power look.

1965 for me,favorite set as well. 3 HOF superstars on the box top. The 75 box almost has a 3D effect with the baseball coming right towards you. Thanks for the pictures.

Many of these old boxes would look great in a display. Hard to argue with any of the choices.

My favorites are 1962, 1965 and 1966. 1969 also very groovy. They could have gone crazier with the 1972 to match the cards.
Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.

Great idea for a thread, Doug. I love seeing how packaging evolved from the early days of a hobby to the big business boom of the 1980's and 1990's.

The ever changing graphic designs, box dimensions, featured players, pack count, price, number of cards, and the like over time.

My wax/foil collection extends from the 1970's right up to present day for that reason.

I sure wouldn't want to be the judge of who has the better collection/display between Kirk, Anthony, and jmoran. Those are truly awesome collections, gents. image

I'll take Mojo's set-up all day. Variety (vending, slabbed cards, wax boxes, wax packs and a baseball), multiple sports,
clean boxes, with some quantity mixed in. Well done!

From the first post, I'd take the '74, '71, and '54 boxes (Ted Williams swinging), as my favorites.

    Cool thread.
