Bruingirl at it again

So Bruingirl is back with more early 80s packs with Henderson RC, Ryan, and a plethora of other stars all on front. My question is how in the world can she get away with this for so long and for the $1000s she's stole. I guess building a case must be near impossible. With no repercussion I'm surprised there isn't these type of over the top packs flooding the market more than usual. I'm glad I got out bid on all her items. I did win an 83 with Gwynn, Sandberg showing but once received it was very noticeably the pack was tampered with. That ended my bidding on her packs.

The 1980 racks aren't even wrapped in 1980 Topps packaging!!

What panel is it supposed to be in? His has Henderson in the top panel and there is another seller that also has a rack with him in the top one. Also, are there cards that never show up on the top of the rack?

As far as stopping him, I don't think ebay cares much about scammers, whether they are buyers or sellers. I've reported a blank back 82 topps ripken orioles rookies "error" 3 times and it is still up.

Henderson is from A sheet and should be in header section where A and B sheet cards are found. Any card from those sheets can appear on top or bottom of the rack.

He has an 80 rack with rose, jackson and Ryan on top with a completely different header.

The comical part is that he/she thinks because copyright date says 1980 that they are 1980 headers when in fact they were used only for 1981 racks!

1980 rack card count is 42, not 48, and though Topps did use a soft plastic header that year as well as the traditional cardboard header card, it was not that one, LOL!

What a joke. This kind of blatant chicanery is really sickening.

I guess when you've got 500 feedback with zero negative and only 3 neutral you don't even try to make the forgery even look good anymore. She sold a Henderson Bench rack in early July for $200. I'm sure for her this is like printing $.

If there is a female on the other end of these transactions, I need to consult my instincts. Think about it. Pretend you're a clueless female selling dad's stash, toss in an occasional anecdote about mom, and all of the odds that are consistently defied have absolutely no bearing whatsoever. A mother and daughter couldn't possibly conjure up such a devious plan and execute it to perfection, right? Breel-yant.

Forget the fact that he/she/it doesn't seem to have stumbled across a normal pack or rack in his/her/its entire life for a moment. It honestly should never even get to that point. When someone starts talking about mom's vacay in the description area, I don't know about anyone else, but my eardrums start throbbing courtesy of sirens.

I am so sick of this individual, and I cannot believe there isn't a single example of rojo-laced feedback. Perhaps that needs to change. image

I've been calling eBay customer service for months about these auctions, following the fake '79 wax pack I won where the seller keeps listing an ever ending supply of them. I talked to a group leader as well. Offered to talk to whoever runs the sportscard section of eBay. Offered to participate in town halls, etc. The best response I got was a promise that they'd have the photos of the auctions reviewed for authenticity. If he was violating their seller standards, they'd sanction the seller, take down his auctions. I tried to tell them you can't tell anything from a stock photo of a wax pack. It went through one ear and out the other. I really wonder if they could care less if their customers are getting ripped off for thousands of dollars. It all pays the same.

How long ago did you win the 83 rack pack? Did you return the pack? Did you leave feedback?

As the husband from the State Farm commercial would say "we'll she's a guy, so..." The first clue is using "girl" or "chick" in your handle. That puts the probability of being a man at 98%. What surprises me is that I would assume anyone interested in her items would be on this board or others and would know all about it yet bidders are all over his listings.

He must buy his negative feedback back by paying for return shipping or something.

One thing I did retain from my last time around in this hobby is to start out with the assumption that people are trying to pull one over on you and then vet them out from there. It's unfortunate and it means i will never own that 83 topps rack with Gwynn, boggs and Frank thomas nnof showing on top but I think it's a good policy.

I did return the pack and left no feedback. It was about a year ago I'd say. I would have but after a pretty nasty exchange and only the promise of a quick refund if I just let it be, I took my money back and dropped it. While I wasn't comfortable with it in my collection and I'm sure no one else here would either, proving it in the eyes of Ebay is another thing.

Not leaving negative feedback doesn't help others down the road perusing her auctions.

How about a group purchase of many packs, then do a mass return with feedback stating the findings of the packs? It only takes one group to alert to the masses.

Couldnt one make a purchase from this ebay seller, then submit a dispute not to pay due to said reasons, all the while you could leave your honest feedback right after the purchase was made.
It's a dick move but so is selling fraudulent items.

I had the same experience with ebay back in '09 when I exposed roughly a dozen resealers. It was like pulling teeth to get ebay to kick these guys off and for the few that were kicked off they would just resurface with a different ID.

Sadly, this is an aspect of eBay that doesn't seem to change, almost no matter what the collectible item in question. There's a well-known regummer, reperfer, shiller of rare stamps who makes a killing; was exposed, drawn and quartered, after a year+ of effort on the part of others, had accounts shut down. For a few months. Now all up and running the same scam again, under the same multiple (8 plus and counting) ID's.

So it is with resealers of sportscards -- so it is with fake Chinese coins in fake TPG slabs -- etc.

The more potentially easy the scam (resealing to faking sealed packs in this instance) the more people will give it a dishonest try. Unfortunately arming yourself with knowledge is required to protect yourself; eBay can't be bothered with "minor" transgressions. imageimage

The only way to really go after them is to go after the large ones by tipping them off to law enforcement/FBI. They'd probably have to be pulling down 6 figures plus to warrant any attention from law enforcement.
